Irene Maslowski, APR

President

Irene Maslowski is the President of Maslowski & Associates, a public relations consultancy in Roseland, NJ, founded in 1988. With more than 15 years experience as a consultant with public relations and marketing communications experience, Irene offers a personalized approach that has helped attract and retain corporate, consumer, non-profit, and business-to-business clients.

Prior to founding her company, Irene was the Assistant Public Relations Director for Jewelers of America, Inc. in New York City .  In this role she was responsible for all public relations and communications activities related to the bi-annual trade shows sponsored by the association, including the management of the press room and media activities.


Maslowski has been a recipient of the prestigious Pyramid Award from the Public Relations Society of America in 2000 (Government/Public Affairs/Community Relations); 2002 (Annual Reports/Magazines); and in 2003 (Community Relations/Special Events).

She received her APR (Accreditation in Public Relations) from the Universal Accreditation Board. The Examination for Accreditation in Public Relations measures knowledge, experience, and professional judgment and is considered to be the hallmark of professionalism within the public relations industry.
Work Background

During her career, Irene has supervised the development of successful communications campaigns for many organizations and businesses, and has been the editor of numerous newsletters and company publications.  Over the years she has worked with print editors and broadcast producers on the regional and national level to obtain media placements for her clients.  She has been a contributing editor for such publications as New Jersey Country Roads Magazine, New Jersey Business, Garden State Woman Magazine, and Tactics (PRSA’s official publication), and has served as the producer of two New Jersey cable television shows.

Her background within the public relations industry is varied and her range of skills includes strategic public relations planning; speechwriting; grant writing; coordinating special events, lectures, and seminars; creating press releases and public service announcements and press kits; writing and editing newsletters, brochures, and annual reports; and producing cable television shows.

In addition to handling her own client accounts, Irene has served as an adjunct PR arm to several metropolitan area public relations, marketing, and advertising agencies.

Irene's contacts and strong media relationships have led to successful placements in many regional and national print and broadcast outlets. Examples of national placements include coverage in Woman's Day, Ladies Home Journal, Better Homes and Gardens, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and CBS's Health Watch.

She is the past President of the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (2002-2004) and a Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Association of Women in Communications, Northern New Jersey Chapter.

She frequently lectures to organizations and colleges and universities on various topics related to public relations:  Jersey City University; The College of Mt. St. Vincent; Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)-National Conference 2004; Towson University; New Jersey State Housing Authority; New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce; New Jersey Builders’ Association-Atlantic City; New Jersey League of Women Voters; New Jersey Society of CPAs; Small Business Administration (SBA)-Rutgers University.

Irene completed her undergraduate work in Liberal Arts at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey, and is currently studying for a Masters Degree of Science in Communications Management at the Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University .

Jack Appleman, CBC

Associate

Jack Appleman is a principal associate of Maslowski & Associates

Public Relations, and the Founder and President of SG Communications. Jack has had a 20-year career in public relations, having helped numerous associations and companies implement highly-effective public relations campaigns and integrate diverse communications strategies.

Before founding SG Communications, Jack was Vice President of Marketing/Communications for The Tribus Companies, now Wachovia Insurance Services, where he launched a new department and developed an integrated public relations and marketing program that allowed Tribus to build visibility, distinguish itself from competitors, and increase revenues.

Previously, he was Vice President for the MWW Group, where he spearheaded an award-winning public relations  campaign that enabled the Medical Society of New Jersey to become the source of authority in the public health care debate.

Jack has published several articles on public relations strategies and has earned numerous awards for writing and campaign development. As President of the Business Marketing Association of New Jersey, Jack serves on BMA's state

and international boards. His publicity programs for BMA earned him five  consecutive Awards of Excellence. He is a frequent presenter on PR and writing and teaches business writing in group and one-on-one forums.   

Jack also teaches public relations and advertising at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in New York City and serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Corporate Communications Department at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, New Jersey.

He received his BA in Communications from Ohio State University and his MS in Journalism from Ohio University. Jack holds the Certified Business Communicator designation from BMA and a Life & HealthInsurance license from the State of New Jersey.

Meredith Landau

Media Relations

Meredith Landau is a public relations practitioner, specializing in media relations.  Prior to joining the M & A team, Meredith worked in both the corporate and agency sector.  

Previous positions include serving as an assistant editor for Modern Bride connection and as a Media Relations Specialist for Fleishman Hillard International Communications inn New York City. 

Her experience includes working on public relations campaigns For Knoll Pharmaceuticals and the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) and the American Association of Medical Acupuncturists (AAMA).

Her track record of media placements has been exceptional and includes working with journalists at Money, Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s, The New York times, and Travel & Leisure.   She has also secured interviews and broadcast segments for clients at FOX, WNBC, WCBS in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Tampa.

Terrence J. Panses

Research

Terry Pranses brings over 20 years of marketing and communications insights to Maslowski & Associates and to the clients of Pranses Research Services.   

Terry’s skills as a focus group moderator, in-depth interviewer and quantitative researcher have been utilized for a number of new product and service launches, including those in such industries as apparel, energy, finance, food and beverage, healthcare, publishing, retail, telecommunications and travel. 

American Express, Berkshire Hosiery, Drug Guild, Filofax Personal Organizers, General Public Utilities, HealthRider Exercise Equipment, IBM, Lord West Tuxedos, New York Business Group for Health/Pfizer, CIBC Oppenheimer, Pepperidge Farm, Remy Martin Beverages, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Time Inc. Magazines, UBS (PaineWebber), Verizon (Bell Atlantic) and Vlasic Foods have been Terry’s clients.  Many studies have dealt with new communications initiatives including advertising messages and identity systems.   

Terry’s prior experience is on the advertising side, including a position with Young & Rubicam, where he was a Vice President, with both account management and new business responsibilities, and included work with American Home Products, Corning, Exxon, Johnson & Johnson/McNeil Consumer Products, Frito Lay, Mobil, Motorola, U.S. Postal Service and Verizon.

Terry holds a B.S. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. from Fisher College of the Ohio State University.  He has taught Marketing and Advertising at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Felician College and CUNY.

Terry has been a featured speaker for the Conference on Corporate Communication, International Association of Culinary Professionals, Society for the Advancement of Management and Public Relations Society of America.  Additionally he has been a Chapter Vice President and Board Member for the Business Marketing Association, and is a member of the New Product Development Consortium and the Wharton Club of New York.  Terry Pranses has written for Quirk’s Marketing Research Review and Stagnito’s New Products.  He has been profiled in Who’s Who in Communications.
